Qafshtama natural mineral water springs at an altitude of 1350M on Qafshtama Mountain.
Qafshtama water flows from the depths of the earth through magmatic rocks from where it is naturally filtered and enriched with mineral salts.
It is known for its curative properties as it is lightand rich in magnesium.
Qafshtama water meets all the physico-chemical and bacteriological criteria required by the European directive.
The springs of Qafshtama mountain, thanks to qualities of the water that flows from them,have presented an importance from the historical point of view.
In 1932, the royal family ‘Zog’, decided to analyze all the springs of the country to choose among them the source from, they would get water for personal consum. After a series of analyzes performed in laboratories abroad, in the Viena laboratory, the water of the mount Qafshtama was chosen among all Albania sources.
In the same year, Queen Mother inaugurated a famous fontain that brought the water of this spring to the road by the montain. Since then, the fontain has been renamed the ‘ Queen Mother’s Fontain’, adding a valuable touch to the history of the early past of these montains.
Even today, along the road, you can see this famous spring.
Qafshtama National Park is protected natural park which lies about 25km east of Kruja.
Qafshtama Park was established in 1996. It has an area of 2000 hectares, with a beautiful mountain view consisting mainly of pine forest, several small lakes and great resources.
Since the time of dictatorship, the camp of Qafshtama has served as a destination for the treatment of various lung diseases. Recently, the park has attracted many visitors from home and abroad who are passionate about hiking.
